Wellbutrin is an antidepressant, prescribed for the treatment of depression and other emotional/mood disorders. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Wellbutrin - Side Effects

If you experience any of the following uncommon but serious side effects, stop taking Wellbutrin and seek emergency medical attention or contact your doctor immediately: an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives); seizures; or fast or irregular heartbeats.

Wellbutrin - Warnings

Limit alcohol comsumption while taking Wellbutrin. Alcohol may increase the risk of having a seizure while taking Wellbutrin. However, if you usually consume large amounts of alcohol, stopping suddenly may also increase your risk of getting a seizure. Discuss your alcohol consumption with a doctor before starting your Wellbutrin treatment. Wellbutrin may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Use caution when performing dangerous activities that require alertness, such as driving or operating machinery. If you are dizzy, be careful when rising from a sitting or lying position.

Store at room temperature away from sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.

Wellbutrin - Proper Usage

Take exactly as directed. Take each dose with a full glass of water, with or without food. The tablets should be swallowed whole; do not crush, chew, or break them, as they are specially formulated to release slowly in the body.

Wellbutrin - Missed Dosge

If you have missed a dose, just skip it and resume your normal medicine schedule with the next dose. Avoid taking a double dose.

Wellbutrin - Drug Interactions

Wellbutrin should not be taken at the same time as taking drugs from the family known as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI), or within two weeks of taking MAOIs. MAOIs include isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), and tranylcypromine (Parnate). If you have taken Wellbutrin, wait at least 14 days before taking a MAOI, and vice versa.
