Plavix is used to lessen the chance of heart attack or stroke in patients who have already had a heart attack or stroke or in people with other blood circulation problems that could lead to a stroke or heart attack. Clopidogrel reduces the chance of harmful blood clot formation by preventing certain cells in the blood from clumping together. This may lead to increased chances of serious bleeding in some people.

Plavix - Proper Usage

Take exactly as directed. Plavix will not have an effect if you take a lower dose, and taking a higher dose will not make the Plavix treatment more effective but may increase the chance of serious side effects. Dosage differs from patient to patient. Average dose for prevention of heart attacks or strokes in adults is 75 mg once a day.

If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible, but if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take only the next one as usual. Avoid taking a double dose.
