Zanaflex is used in the treatment of muscle spasms.

Zanaflex - Side Effects

Some possible side effects of using Zanaflex are drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, constipation, unusual weakness, and dry mouth. These should go away by themselves. If they persist or are bothersome, consult a doctor. More seroius side effects are uncommon but possible. Consult a doctor if you experience yellowing skin or eyes, stomach pain, vomiting, hallucinations. The following side effects are very unlikely, but if they occur, consult a doctor as soon as posisble: vision or hearing changes, urinary frequency or burning, slow or irregular heartbeat, black stool. It is unlikely that you will experience an allergic reaction to Zanaflex, but if you do, seek emergency medical help.

Zanaflex - Warnings

Before starting your Zanaflex treatment, tell your doctor your medical history, especially if you have any allergies, low blood pressure, liver or heart disease, kidney disease, or eye disease. Limit your alcohol consumption because alcohol increases the dizziness and drowsiness effects of Zanaflex. In general you should use caution in situations that require alertness, such as driving a car or operating machinery. In pregnant women, Zanaflex should be used only when clearly needed; consult a doctor. It is not known whether Zanaflex passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.

Zanaflex - Missed Dosge

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, but if it is almost time for the next dose, just skip the missed dose and take only the one regularly scheduled. Avoid taking a double dose.

Zanaflex - Drug Interactions

Inform your doctor of all the drugs you are using, whether prescription or non-prescription, and particularly if you are using: blood pressure medications, MAO inhibitors (such as linezolid, furazolidone, phenelzine, selegiline), sleep medicines, tranquilizers, sedatives, anti-anxiety drugs, narcotic pain relievers (such as codeine), barbiturates, antihistamines, other muscle relaxants (such as cyclobenzaprine), antidepressants such as imipramine, amitriptyline, or trazodone, psychiatric drugs, or birth control pills. Do not start or stop taking any drug without your doctor's or pharmacist's approval.
