Generic Flextra (Phenyltoloxamine & Acetaminophen)

FLEXTRA

Containing an antihistamine in addition to an analgesic and antipyretic, Flextra is used in order to treat cold and flu pain, menstrual cramps, headaches, and fever aches. It may also be prescribed for patients with certain arthritic conditions or other conditions as determined by a doctor.

Proper Storage

Store at room temperature, away from sunlight and moisture, and out of the reach of children.

Proper Usage

Take exactly as directed. Take with or without food.

Side Effects

Possible side effects of Flextra include dizziness or drowsiness, dry mouth, throat, and nose, and thickening of mucus in nose and throat. Consult your doctor about any side effect that does not go away with use or is especially bothersome. Consult a doctor immediately if you experience easy bleeding or bruising, or persistent sore throat or other signs of infection. It is unlikely that you will experience an allergic reaction to Flextra, but if you do, seek emergency medical care.

Warnings

Tell your doctor of any other medical conditions you have, especially alcohol dependency, asthma, difficulty urinating, enlarged prostate, glaucoma, kidney disease, liver disease, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Do not take Flextra if you have had an allergic reaction to it in the past or if you know of an allergy to any of its ingredients. Flextra may cause drowsiness. Do not perform any dangerous activities that require alertness, such as driving or operating machinery, before you know how Flextra affects you. Flextra contains acetaminophen. Do not take any other medications that contain acetaminophen at the same time. If you are not sure what your medications contain, consult a doctor or pharmacist. Acetaminophen may cause liver damage, especially when combined with alcohol. Women planning on becoming pregnant should consult a doctor about the risks of taking Flextra during pregnancy. Breastfeeding women should not take Flextra as Flextra passes into breast milk and may harm the nursing infant. If overdose is suspected, seek emergency medical care.

Missed Dosge

If you are taking Flextra regularly and you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Avoid taking a double dose.

Drug Interactions

Some drugs and medical conditions may interact with Flextra in ways that have negative impact on the effect of either or both. Tell your doctor your complete medical history and about any drugs you may be taking (including over-the-counter and natural/herbal products) before starting Flextra treatment. If you are using blood thinners (e.g. warfarin, isoniazid) you may require additional monitoring of your dose or condition.
